Ready to grab the mic?
You don’t have to call yourself a comedian to sign up. Maybe you’re simply the person who always has the whole table laughing.
Maybe you’ve had stories and jokes in your head for years. Or maybe you already have some stage experience.
How does selection work?
For the very first Comedy Café Curaçao, we’re looking for The First Six: people with a sense of humor, something to say, and enough motivation to take it seriously.
1. You sign up
Tell us a little about who you are, what kind of comedy or stories you’d like to bring, and why you want to take part.
Already have a video or clip? Feel free to send us a link, but it’s absolutely not required. On the night, you’ll have up to 10 minutes on stage.
2. We review your application
We’re not only looking for people who already call themselves comedians.
Experience is a plus, but it matters far less than potential, good ideas, a sense of humor, and motivation.
3. Meet us at Mahaai
If you make it through the first selection, we’ll invite you to Grand Café Mahaai.
No intimidating job interview, just a chance to meet, talk about your ideas, any material you may already have, and the night itself.
4. The line-up
After that, we decide who will take the stage during the pilot.
For the first night, we’re deliberately keeping things small with a maximum of six performers: The First Six.
One more thing about 'open mic'
Comedy Café Curaçao works with a controlled open mic. So you can’t just walk in on the night, put your name on a list and be on stage five minutes later.
Not because we want to make it complicated, quite the opposite. New talent is more than welcome. We simply want to know who’s coming, what you’re planning to do and whether you’re properly prepared.
That way, everyone knows what to expect and we can build a strong night together.

Performances in Dutch and English
Beginners and experienced performers
People who take their participation seriously
Funny people, even if they don’t call themselves comedians yet
No perfect résumé required, just preparation and commitment
