Comedy Café Curaçao is looking for The First Six

Great. Then maybe it’s time you actually did something with it!
For the very first Comedy Café Curaçao, we’re looking for The First Six: six people who will be the first to take our stage.
No experience required. What we do ask for is preparation, a little courage, and the intention to really make something of it.
Curaçao deserves a proper home for stand-up
Curaçao has plenty of people with great stories, sharp observations and, presumably, a few truly terrible jokes. What it hasn't had is a regular place to try them out on a crowd.
Comedy Café Curaçao will be an intimate comedy night where new talent, experienced performers and an audience come together. No huge theatre production.
Just a small stage, a microphone and everyone's attention on the person holding it.
A controlled open mic. Emphasis on controlled.
We absolutely want to give first-timers a chance. But 'open mic' does not mean having three rums on the night, deciding you've always been hilarious and grabbing the microphone.
Every comedian applies beforehand. We make an initial selection and invite suitable candidates for an in-person introduction.
That keeps the barrier low without making the line-up a complete surprise to everyone involved.
The plan is to launch the first Comedy Café Curaçao night at Grand Café Mahaai in November 2026.
We’re deliberately keeping that date a little flexible for now. The pilot will only go ahead once we’ve found enough people who make us think: yes, this is the kind of talent we want Curaçao to see.

Who are we looking for?
Never done stand-up before?
Perfect. Everyone has to start somewhere.
You don’t even have to call yourself a comedian yet to sign up.
Been on stage before?
Also great! We want experienced performers and new talent side by side.
Dutch or English?
Both. For our first Comedy Café Curaçao night, performances in Dutch and English are welcome.
What matters most to us?
That you have potential, something to say, and that you’re willing to seriously prepare your set. And, of course, that you actually show up if you’re selected.
You don’t need a ten-year career plan. You do need to be committed to the concept.
